Clayton has served as the Pastor at First Baptist since August 2015. Clayton loves to teach God’s Word and help people apply it to their lives. His desire is to lead by example as FBC strives to become everything that God has called the church to be. His verse for this season of life is “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” (Psalm 71:18)
Before coming to Hartselle, Clayton served as the Associate Pastor at FBC Trussville.
Clayton was born and raised in Selma, Alabama. He is unabashed in his love for the Crimson Tide…and the Army Team! He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry from Beeson.
While Clayton loves being the pastor of First Baptist, he often reminds the congregation that his higher calling is to be the best husband and dad that he can be. He and his wife Mary are the parents of four children: Clayton Jr., Isabelle, Josh, and Gabby. They also care for an assortment of animals — currently up to eight…and counting!
